Clemson’s Chances at March Madness Appear Done: Is it Time to Say Goodbye to Brad Brownell?

Prior to the game, many didn’t have high expectations for the Clemson team, who were picked to finish 11th in the preseason ACC poll. Although the team had a strong performance on Wednesday, Clemson fans expected better than their 4-for-24 shooting from beyond the arc.

Clemson v. Louisville Highlights

Despite P.J. Hall’s impressive 28-point performance, with Brevin Galloway, Chase Hunter, and Hunter Tyson all scoring in double digits, the team received no points from their previously reliable bench. Additionally, Louisville dominated the boards with a 37-26 rebounding advantage. The disappointing outcome exemplifies the ups and downs of Brad Brownell’s tenure at Clemson.

Fans are understandably upset and some are calling for the ouster of Brad Brownell.

While there are two remaining Quad 1 opportunities, both appear highly unlikely as they are road games. Barring a miracle finish, Clemson’s chances of making it to the Big Dance at the end of the season seem to have been finally laid to rest. With four regular-season games remaining, two of which are Quad 1 opportunities against NC State and Virginia, Clemson’s chances of making it to Selection Sunday are slim unless they can run the table.
